Adaptation Project

purpose.

The project to adapt the river floodplain for the creation of an eco park was based on the modernization of the historical space, taking into account the established biotopes of the embankment.

Historical Area with a Modern Solution.

A natural section of the historical Volga floodplain has been preserved in the center of Nizhny Novgorod to this day and continues to be a source of concentrated living organisms.
The area was designed as a park with a natural road and path network, where tree stands alternate with open green areas for relaxation.
The project was designed with environmental considerations in mind: we preserved clumps and meadows for bird nesting, and also created welcoming areas with insect homes. The flood-resistant eco-route was designed above ground level to ensure minimal disruption to the ecosystem.

Functional Areas.

Walking Area
When developing natural areas, context and existing road networks play a major role. We combined the terrain-based features of the area with existing paths and organized the space so that it would be comfortable not only for people but also for local natural communities.
Recreation Area by the Water
The waterfront recreation areas were designed to give visitors a choice of activities—whether they want to leisurely admire the water from the shore, take a boat ride, or stroll along the boardwalk along the river. Each of these activities, thanks to its different functionality, provides the opportunity to gain a varied experience, not fixed on one thing.
