purpose.

Restoration of the river’s natural banks and enhancement of the site’s recreational and conservation potential to address the shortage of natural areas in the city.

Minimalism that highlights the area's unique features.

We sought to create an unconventional urban park that would preserve the natural character of the existing waterfront area. The recreational development of the riverside area has resulted in the creation of a well-developed and safe network of walking trails, multi-purpose areas, and viewing platforms overlooking the floodplain landscape.
We have preserved natural areas of the biosphere and bird nesting sites, while at the same time providing people with access to natural landscapes. Two design concepts were developed for the redevelopment of the Nary River waterfront, featuring year-round functional zones and points of interest. The minimalist design allowed us to highlight the uniqueness of the local landscape—not by disrupting it, but by blending seamlessly into the existing surroundings.

Functional Areas.

Alternative option
The concept called for the development of two design options with different functional uses for the waterfront: the first option emphasized walking, while the second option was designed for longer periods of relaxation on urban lounge chairs.
Landscaping the waterfront
The scenic beauty of the riverbed was accentuated by the project’s design elements, while the functional layout of the riverfront creates a sense of life’s leisurely pace: leisurely strolls, reading by the water, or watching the river flow—the space is open and invites us to pause and relax.
Relaxing break by the water
Elevated viewing platforms allow visitors to observe nature without disturbing the vegetation or disrupting the existing ecosystem.

Key Techniques and Features.

We wanted to create a walking route with a 4m wide bike path without radically intruding into the landscape. This idea was realized thanks to the terrain and the possibility of creating decking on piles with a metal frame.

Part of the slope was reinforced with gabions. In places where it was impossible to place lighting on supports, the lighting was integrated into the embankment railings.
An important task was to organize various recreation areas with the most diverse play spaces at the junction of several functional zones of the city. We created a uniting route between the sports area, the public space near the residential complex, and the silk factory, which is expected to become the city's art cluster in the future.
Preservation of Biodiversity
One of the project's main goals was to create an environment where humans complement nature, rather than dominate it. We sought to develop the area in a way that would preserve and enhance local ecological communities.
Nothing in Excess
Creation of a minimalist urban environment with clearly defined functionality was a response to the surroundings filled with architectural expression in various styles.
Existing Environment
Conceptual design was developed in close conjunction with the district's existing and future urban development policies. It was necessary to consider routes to nearby sports and public spaces, as well as to consider the content in line with the plan to commission the former silk factory.
In addition to technical visualizations, a bird's eye view of the embankment was created to reflect the project's concept. This makes it possible to become familiar with the territory in more detail and trace its movement from beginning to end, taking into account the formed functional zones.
